Yakimono is one of eight specialty eateries in the Chris Lucas family of restaurants. With seven outlets in Melbourne and one in Sydney, the group has a rapidly growing and radical reputation for exotic yet approachable cuisine. Eric Jones is fortunate to have provided stairway innovations for the group.
Yakimono operates in the impressively and prestigiously tenanted 80 Collins Street in the very heart of Melbourne’s CBD. Like many of the city’s world-class dining institutions, it thrives on an air of mystery, hiding away in locations not always visible to the uninitiated.
Our staircase solution maintained that air of under-stated mystery: a steel structure with steel treads under an MDF substrate overlaid with stone. Continuous stainless steel handrails draw the expectant diner onwards and upwards, with a stainless steel balustrade on the right to contrast with the sold wall opposite.
